Do you enjoy working with technology? Are you interested in helping people? Then you may be a good fit for Job Corps’ Advanced Computer Systems Administration training program.

On the job, you will:

  • Configure hardware applications, network connectivity, access to resources and mobile computing
  • Coordinate workstation configuration and deployment
  • Monitor and maintain servers and systems
  • Configure backup and recovery for systems
  • Implement green IT technologies, tools and standards

The credentials you'll earn:

This is the first level of Advanced Training offered in the Advanced Computer Technician series. Students who complete the Advanced Computer Systems Administration training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and Cisco. Credentials such as these show that students are ready for positions in computer programming and repair.   Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers)
  • Complete a Job Corps' basic Compter Technician training program
  • Meet academic (math and reading) requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Complete a successful phone or in-person interview

  • Positive attendance and progress record
  • Written recommendation from Job Corps center personnel
  • Health clearance at current center
  • Strong work ethic and determination to succeed
  • Have a positive behavior record
  • Earned the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Certification

Paul Robertson

Paul Robertson serves as the Advanced Computer Systems instructor at Shriver Job Corps Center. He started working with Shriver Job Corps in 2008 as a Computer Technician instructor. Paul began his career in information technology in 1997, working for Lockheed and Martin Sanders, then started teaching IT in 2000. He earned a degree in IT from the University of Phoenix, network engineering certification from Hesser College, and multiple certifications from Microsoft and CompTIA.
